It is a simple process - but pop a note in at 9 Lincoln Way giving me your email address. Or just email Dixon Jones saying who you are and where in the village you live and I will "hook you up".

this site's a great idea.  Love the village, my only complaint is the parking - on pavements, corners etc.  But hey, we can't have everythijng.

Thanks so much for posting! I was wondering around the village in the snow... and I wasn't sure if I was going to get any takers! I managed Lincoln way, Monmouth, Daubeny, Brian road, Astery Close and some of Barton road before running out of leaflets and feeling the cold. I hope others join in.

I'll try to get to the lower village over the next few days - but if you met up with anyone, please pass the word.

Dixon.

A village on the trainline is always going to have commuters parking on the streets around

Maybe if the station parking cheaper and had more spaces we'd see less street parking?

Get on to First Capital Connect (I blame Thatcher)

I also know that sixth formers park near the upper school because there is limited parking at the school, and it means they can go home when they have study periods. That's why I'm so lucky living in Harlington!

:)I do think we have to have some tolerance towards the parking issue.  We live in a village that has benefitted greatly from the train station but has only a small car park for commuters.  We also have a large school and with the amount of ground available to them they should have been able to build a car park fit for purpose.

I was not happy at the idea of having to pay for my parking space outside the house.  Although I have a large drive, it is necessary for my visitors to have somewhere to park and if we all allocate the area outside our houses for our own use then this would create a problem for ourselves eventually, as well as an unneccesary additional cost.

When I go to other towns and villages as a visitor I would like to be able to park on the street and I pay my car tax to cover use of the roads, including parking where it is legal to do so.  In many towns the people have no choice but to hunt around local streets to find a parking space and do not consider they own the road in front of their house.  We don't, and providing no law is broken have no more right to park there than the next person.

So perhaps we should be aware of that when we feel agrieved about parking in our roads by people who do not live here, and try to remember that we all often park in streets we do not live in.  Illegal parking is another matter.
