Hi Dixon,

I wondered if this may be useful to send out via harlington.net. As you may have heard that has been a number of house robberies in Harlington, many of them during the day as well as evening. Beds Police run an electronic version of 'neighbourhood watch' and email us with details as soon as they are reported.

We signed up to Ringmaster last year when there was a spate of distraction robberies on doorsteps of elderly people. Most of our neighbours are elderly and don't have computers. So we let them know if there is a lot of 'activity' in order for them to be more vigilant. As you can see, just in the last few months there have been a significant number of burglaries.

Perhaps others could sign up to Ringmaster and keep their neighbours informed. There's no catch - there are no meetings or curtain twitching required. I think you have to fill out a form for the local community officer. The email is ringmaster@bedfordshire.pnn.police.uk) ; if you ask to be added to the contact list.

Jenny Halford

Here is what they have sent us in the last 2 months.

Don't shoot the messenger! Sorry guys, here's another burglary from yesterday: maybe the Parish Council should post these notices on the village noticeboards? Most of our elderly neighbours don't have access to a computer.

I got this email today:

****************************
Hi All

We were burgled last night – one of 3 houses hit in Harlington

Fortunately all our laptops and Sean’s car keys were upstairs

So all they got was an old wallet of Sean’s full of reward cards and my laptop BAG which had my driving licence and passport in but no laptop plus a back door key and Patrick’s car key- but they didn’t want to steal his car!

We feeling pretty lucky although it’s still horrid to think someone was in our home

Just a reminder to you all to lock up at night and take your valuables- handbags, car keys etc to bed with you. As well as targeting laptops and cars they are also after gold to send off to the ‘cash for gold’ postal companies.

They took a few of our coats, but threw them away on Sundon Hills and I’ve recovered them. This included Thomas’s school blazer. Can you imagine the aggro on Tuesday morning when he couldn’t find it to go back to school? And  how annoyed would I have been to have to buy him a new one for the last ? term.

Keep Safe
